Blue Face Accuron: I have an N1 code Accutron with a stainless case and a blue (like medium, Slate or French blue). I have never seen another one like it, and I'm wondering if anyone else knows anything about it. The case has a horizontal surface that is highly polished, and outboard of that the sides are chamfered and brushed. The case has four distinct, curved sides, it is not round or oval. It has highly polished hands, a sweep second hand and a date. The hour markers (not numbers) are square with facets on the top surface. I would appreciate any information about it. Thanks.

I am looking for a model 214, circa 1965. My father's watch was gold with a soft tone gold dial. I don't care if it works so long as the case and dial are in nice shape. This would replace a very important family heirloom that was stolen. Please contact me at wklintworth@mortgagenorth.com Thank you. Bill Klintworth

I was wondering if there was a standard accutron sound or does it vary from case to case? I have recently purchased a watch with a 218 movement, and the hum from the case sounds like it is about an "f" above middle c (on my piano)which it would seeing as that the fork is vibrating at 360 Hz (that F is 349 Hz and the F# is 369 Hz), but there seems to be another higher harmonic. Has anyone recorded any .wav or .mp3 files of running accutrons and posted them on the web? I would love to hear them if they have. Thanks, Nick. busharse@hotmail.com

I have a Bulova Accutron wrist watch that I received as a gift, circa 1980/1981. It has a stainless steel case, and the dial is red and black (does not have date indicator). The numbers (12,1,2,3 etc.) on the dial are silver. What appears to be a serial number on the back of the watch is T0144442. In this regard, my question is, when was this watch actually manufactured and does it seem as though the back case was changed possibly when I had taken the watch in for service over-the-years? Thank you, John

I recently came across an Accutron dated N9, with an automatic movement. It has the day and date at 6, both quickset. The movement looks to be of very good quality, the rotor is set with ball bearings and has the numbers 1233.11 on it. It looks better than your average Bulova auto movement. The Accutron symbol is on the watch face at 12 and also on the bracelet clasp. Has a very fast beat. Did Bulova make this movement or was it made by another factory? I've never seen this before. Thank you, you can email me at micelikeme@yahoo.com.

On the back it says; 18 base metal bezel, stainless steel back, water resistant, bulova quartz. That is about all I see. Can you offer any further information? Thank you, Dennis.

I know they were real popular thirty years ago, I worked at a jewelry store in Milwaukee, WI, and that is where I purchsed it. My original watch had the pale green markings and hands as described by another party who referred to it as an "asronaut" watch. My crystal and hands were replaced a couple of times over the almost 40 years I've owned it. In fact, I purchased a couple of extra crystals and sets of hands to be safe. However none of the replacements were the same as the originals!! :( My crystals have white markings and the hands appear to be (plain) stainless steel. Are real original hands and crytals available anywhere??? michaelg@gray.mb.ca

I bought a Accutron watch from a reputable retail store in Boston some years ago and when I try to look up the model and year for it I don't seem to have much luck. Any help or direction anyone could give me would be much appreciated. The watch is two tone silver and gold the face is white with the tuning fork logo at twelve oclock it has a date window at three oclock with gold columns at the hour and double columns at six and nine oclock. The face iswhite with a subtle almost check pattern to it. the bracelet has a hidden clasp and the links form a silver tuning fork with a gold link between the forks. On the clasp it is written on one side swiss and the other stainless steel. the back reads, from twelve oclock, accutron T5 stainless steel case 588541 water resistent. The case is relatively thin and has a gold rim over the stainless with accents at the 3,6,9 and 12 positions.Acutron is written below the tuning fork on the face. Any idea what model and year this might be? Thank you, Jim Gyrine68@yahoo.com

I have a white-dial Bulova Accutron Quartz watch. On the face, one finds the foregoing information plus the designation "666 feet" and "dual-day" under the day and date. On the back, you have "Bulova N7 Stainless steel case Water resistant 666 feet." It appears to have a rotating bezel that is red in color from the 1-15 minute area, with the remainder being black in color. The second hand is orange in color. Also, on the bottom edge of the front dial you find "T SWISS T". Can anyone tell me anything about this watch, i.e., name, model, age, et cetera? Thanks. My email is vanofam@setel.com.

My father bought my mom a ladies' Bulova watch (diamond on each side) in the late 40's or early 50's. My mom at 86 yrs of age (1984). Ever since then her watch has been in a safety box. Last month, my daughter and I was going through her possessions and was looking at her watch. My daughter wound it and to our surprise, it began running. We watched it for a day or so, kept it wound, and decided to take into the jeweler to see if it was worth cleaning. They, as much as we, were amazed that it was still in great working order. So, for $30, the jeweler cleaned the watch, I purchased a band and am now wearing it...it's keeping great time and it seems so right to have it on my wrist. Hopefully, my daughter, a professor and registrar, will also wear this watch. It certainly has lasted three generations. Amazing! Ruth Fidelman c/o josephfidelman@yahoo.com

My Father-in-law gave me an old accutron watch of his. It appears to be a 1970 (N0) 214 Chapter Ring Spaceview, but is a little unlike others I have been able to research on the web. It runs fine and appears to be dead-on accurate gaining perhaps a few seconds/month. It appears to match closest the 1271-AYS model on your Spaceview crystal page. The gold metal, accutron logo'd band is original according to my father-in-law and is a tight mesh style unlike others I have seen. The watch back has the 214 feature set except unlike most others, the words waterproof do not appear anywhere. It also says on the back "10KT GOLD FILLED BEZEL". On the Beveled edge of the back, it has "BULOVA" at top dead center, "PATENTED" at left side and "STAINLESS STEEL" at the bottom. The right side bevel is interrupted by the battery cover. The chapter ring is concave and has a luminous dot at the 12 o-clock position and a luminous stripe at each of the other 11 number positions with a black line at each of the 4 intermediate minute markings. One last difference from others I have seen is the sweep second hand. It appears painted white like the outer edges of the spear type hour and minute hands, but the opposite side includes the accutron tuning fork logo instead of being a simple straight edge. The watch case is 34mm diameter and the crystal appears to measure 31mm. I love the watch and intend to keep it maintained and in use, but would like to know a bit more of its history and confirm its lineage. Thanks - Dubini@bellsouth.net

hello, we are trying to learn about a 214 that we recently inherited. we have not been able to find any photos that are the same. the back states BULOVA 14KT GOLD PATENTED WATERPROOF and under the serial # it has M4, which we understand to mean it was manufactured in 1964. The front is round, there are raised rectangular gold markers on the 3, 6, & 9, with the emblem on the 12. there is a circle around the outside edge of the face plate (yet under the crystal) with minute markings and what appears to be a gold marking at each 5 min interval. the hands are gold color and the plate holds the name ACCUTRON in gold on a neutral color background. the band appears to be a leather KREISLER. we have not tried to set it, it hasn't been worn in years. would appreciate any information on the model, as well as any ideas of what it could be worth. thanks! gotaylor@aol.com

Hi I'm curious - what is the significance in the number that is stamped on the "tuning forks" on a 1961 spaceview? Mine, prior to being refurbished, had a number 7 stamped on it. After being refurbed now has a 2? Any thoughts?
The repairer most likely had to swap the tuning fork in order to slow the movement. Installing a regulator diode is the preferred method. See the info at:  Accutron Batteries

I came across a 14 kt gold Accutron with an unusual 14 kt gold watch band made up of links shaped like the tuning fork logo. While I am not certain, I believe it is one of the 218 models. The face has gold bars at each hour and a rectangular date box at 3 oclock. The exterior of the dial is dark brownish shading to gold in the center. Can anyone give me guidance as to what we have and how best to describe it? Is this watch unusual? Please answer via this board or email me at murph9677@earthlinnk.net. Thanks for any info! It has a date but no day and a red face. There is what looks like a Roman numeral "II" at the 12, 6, and 9 positions, and a metallic square thingy at the 1,2,4,5,7,8,10 & 11 positions. My Accutron 1966, M6 serial # a65009, is stoping just before midnight. I have to turn it past midnight. I believe the date movement is stoping the watch. Battery I believe is fresh, about a year old. thanks for your help.

Hello, I recently picked up a Spaceview 214 M5 but I know nothing about it; how can I tell if it has been modified to use a modern battery? There was no battery inside when I bought it. Also what is the purpose of the plastic spacer on the battery? I (briefly) tried a 394 to verify that it works, it did not appear that any spacer would be necessary. Thanks much for your time. I have a Bulova Accutron ladies watch bought in 1973. It has a brown and orange striped face. The movement has failed and I would like to know if it's possible to repair this under my local jeweller's estimated cost of £250-300. stardust@priory629.fsnet.co.uk

Hi to all our friends in the US. I am an Accutron collector in the United Kingdom. I have read somewhere that these tuning fork watches were made in the US and in Switzerland and that it is possible to establish where by the serial number. Any information will be appreciated. John

See the information at: http://www.accutron214.com/AccutronQ&A.htm#serial number
